Today I was kajaking and I took a closer look to the wooden jetty and the old, rusty ship M/S Suðurland by the herring factory...

During a guided tour through the old herring factory I met Ásbjörn, while he was reparing one of his cars. So he used this situation and showed us his Mercedes-Benz 280E and a tractor - both completly repaired by himself.

Today I flew back to Djúpavík to spend one more week in the hotel (well, at the end I was there for two weeks).

Stefan Erdmann is in Iceland again - he shows his movie during the film festival "shorts&docs" - what a nice reunion. This fine movie is shown once more: "Island 63º 66º" - next thursday, 28 August, at 15.00h. More informations conc. the festival "shorts&docs" and the location here.

The main reason to go to Reykjavík was, that I wanted to run the Reykjavík Marathon. Start at 8.40h, and we had the best running weather (13° C, clouds, small wind, no rain). Such a marathon run is a good possibility to explore this town. After 3 hours and 45 minutes a reached the finishing line.

Martin is in Reykjavík still (and leaving the next day to Austria). So we had to meet - he visited his favourite location, and I visited my favourite location in Reykjavík.

During the drive to Reykjavík I took a picture every few kilometers. Then I choosed these 47 pictures of those 100...

Today I left Djúpavík - after ca. 70 days nonstop Djúpavík. I drove together with Kaja to Reykjavík - to enter the Reykjavík Marathon on saturday. But before leaving, we had to take a farewell picture.

Hraun - again! And more than only one time this evening: After the great fish buffet nonacustic in the hotel, thereafter with folksongs next to bonfire, and later in the night with a bizarre show in the old herring factory...

Saturday was more or less a calmy day - untill the evening - with f. e. watching the handball game Iceland against Denmark (?). Magga, our cook, was preparing the great fish buffet in the evening.

After the theatre Svavar Knutur gave a concert - he played in june already. Today he startet alone with his guitar, but after a few songs the other memebers of his band Hraun joined the stage to play together - but only acustic... A wonderful concert with a lots of fun...

This weekend in the middle of august belongs to the Djúpavíkdays - with varoius events. The opening event was a theatre, shown in the old herring factory.. The play was written by Simon.

Nine swiss guests want to travel to the north - Hornstrandir. So Héðinn and me drove these guest to Norðurfjörður, where the Reimars boat was waiting already...

Together with Sidsel, the artist from the Netherlands, and her sister Nynke I drove to the swimming pool Krossnes - a welcome break afte these busy days in the hotel.
